About Sound & Disc Quality

About Sound & Disc Quality
----------------------------

* Its not the ATRAC which really makes the recording sound good. Its the DAC (Digital Analog Converter). This ofcourse applies to newer ATRAC (Sony Atrac v4.0 and above)

* Statistically a man cannot audibly distinguish between Atrac4.0 and CD using HighEnd equipment (Expensive decks, oxygen free copper wiring, $2000 speakersystem etc) [skamd: This is true in most cases, the operative word being most.]

* Soundquality between brands do not exist since this is a digital media

* Buildquality between brands do exist though. Some brands have a higher TOC ERROR rate
And some have some physical problems. Stay away from too cheap brands hehe. Mostly spoken about is Maxell Gold and Hi-Space. Alot of people have had no problems at all and have hundreds of discs while other only have troubles with them. Anyway, it seems Hi-Space is spitting out more broken MDs than any other brands. But those who passes has the same buildquality as the more expensive ones.

This might contains some errors. Please post a private msg to me if you wish to add or delete something inaccurate. Do not respong to this since this is a closed thread.
