yayaba-- though techincally the DR7 has a higher output (8mW vs. 5mW) than the DS8, I'm still trying to decide how noticable it is since I have both units...

Rumz, it should be a little noticeable with your Eggos, though if you get a new pair of $200 headphones, you'll definitely hear it , though I guess that's my task. I think I might be the only one here crazy enough to do it (DR7 + big ole expensive headphones) Though then again, there is Superbaldguy... *cough etys cough*

Yes, the Etys reveal all the flaws in any source and can differentiate between output levels. However, as Rumz says, there may not be a lot of difference between the perceived volume of both units.

I know that this is a bit off-track, so please forgive me

But I'm interested in getting a pair of those over-the-ear Ety's (although that may well delay my impending purhcase of the DR7!). Can any of you suggest a **low cost ** source of those headphones online - or even better, in New York City?

NYC doesn't fare that well in the Headphone department. The best place to find any audiophile Grade phones is at B&H, and they don't stock Etys.

The cheapest Etys are the ER6's, and both eBay and Headroom's prices are pretty low .

Great review...

Just got mine in the mail...

My god...best sounding ANYTHING I have ever heard...sent shivers through my spine!

One complaint: The included 'phones don't work out of a normal jack - that means they will be hard to burn in (will only work on the DR7), and right now they are the best buds I have

Oh, and I found a use for The Purple Bag - cleans finger prints off of the shiny chrome/blue face

Oh man....this is the greatest thing ever... go buy one now! Yes, I am talking to you! GO NOW!

THANK YOU MINIDISCO!

*swoon*

I don't have an AC adapter of the proper voltage yet - which means draining an AA for 24-48 hours to burn in ...

Although I have found that when using the AA pack, it not only powers the unit but charges the gum stick, which is great

It really isn't a big deal at all, infact I'm going to set it up now and go to bed, but I was hoping I could just throw the included buds on another computer to "warm up" while I listend to the DR7 with my better headphones. *shrug*

But man, this unit sounds GREAT. I love the remote too, very intuitive to use, and a clear display. The five-line LCD on the unit is also great. Great, great, great! And the sound! So clear, so much detail...

I'll post the pictures I took of the opening of Dr. 7 at some point

I'm confused...the included earphones really don't work with any other headphone jack? But other headphones will work with the DR7 headphone jack...weird.
BTW, most earbuds don't really require more than a day to burn-in.
