Wow, good review. Although not my favorite color, I do like the look of that unit. And that customizable EQ sounds oh so nice. I wish I had one :\

Wow, very nice review moltar, makes me wish I had bought that Kenwood Q35 for my girlfriend. I'm really interested in the S77 and maybe when I get some more money (or get rid of some of the stuff I have), I'll look into getting one. I particularly like that remote though, it looks really cool and appears to be vastly different from Sharp's Auvi remotes. I'm slightly disappointed though that it doesn't show the album title on the first line with the track title below it though like Sony does with their high-end remotes, unless I just misread your review.

excellent review moltar. its convincing me to buy a kenwood player now...everything seems perfect. except when you said about the horrible sound it emits w/ EQ on flat. other than that, very nice looking (and hopefully very good-sounding) player. its on my list along w/ a whack of sharp selections! cheers!

This is very nice, moltar. I understood that Kenwoods were Sharp clones, but I couldn't help but notice the "made in Japan" inscribed on the back of the player; I thought all Sharp stuff was made in Malaysia? Anyway, looks like a winner.
Do you need the cradle/stand to charge up the battery? ie. can you plug in, directly, to an AC outlet?

A Sharp clone is the same as a Sharp but not necessarily built in the same place. I think lately all Kenwoods are unique to Kenwood, but may use Sharp ATRAC versions. I don't know how this is related to the digital amp they use though. (but I dont' know how a digital amp works in the first place so they're probably not related..).

Cool moltar (nice review), and a bargin at 199.00 ! I didn't quite explain the ds70 eq section for you very good so...... eq flat - just what it says, eq heavy-very cool bass setting,eq pops - don't like, eq jazz- just what you would expect, eq dance- bright sounding,eq vocal - mids boosted, eq rock - probably what I would use most out of the presets, eq soft- sounds weak, and user 1 and 2 which you can adjust bass , mids, and treble in 8 steps pretty cool but I think the volume is louder with the x-bass settings and no eq- it is nice to cut the treble though, once in awhile . I love my ds70 but that kenwood remote looks hella cool, and like it would be eaisier to operate than the sharps.. Scott.

Forgot to mention, "nice remote!" I've finally been vindicated for loving such a "hideous and unergonomic" remote!
Cheers moltar! ![]() EDIT: BTW, if you two should ever split for some strange reason, make sure you take the Kenwood...
