My favorite portable configuration... DR7/D66 (pics)
A while back Okinawa_Joe started a thread where people could post pics of their setups, computer rooms, etc. This is along those lines--
I was at work today enjoying MD bliss with my favorite setup and decided to take a pic-- this is what I carry around in my backpack to work, to school, and anywhere else I go This is a good representation of the color of the DR7, and perhaps the size of the eggos for those curious. Here they are on my desk in my cubicle at work, making the work day go by so much more enjoyably. The DR7 and D66 eggos are a killer combo! ![]() ![]()

I really like your pictures
![]() Do u think the DR7 sounds better then the sharp DS8? I'm just wondering Normally players tend to have better sounds than portables, but with these new digital amps, I'm not so sure anymore.I think matheis is the best person to ask about this!! ~G PS:- I loved your pics by the way......MD pics are always awesome and welcome on this board! hehee

Hey I just noticed! U have the DR7 AND the DS8!
So plz tell me what YOU think........which sounds better? I'm thinking the DR7 just because it has a more powerful amp. What do you feel? ~G

Hehe, yeah I know, I love eye candy, a lot of people here like eye candy too
When that E10 arrives you can post a pic of your fav. setup, eh shaizada? Honestly, I don't give the DS8 much a fair chance these days, heh-- I've been too lazy to swap units. I need to switch it with my DR7 and see if I notice a difference. I've said before that my initial impression was that the juicier amp on the DR7 seems to enhance the quality of the signal, make the detailed sound a little more... up front? I'm having a hard time describing it, LOL. Perhaps next week I'll switch the DS8 to my on the go setup and see how i like it, try a few discs that i've used a lot with the DR7... Incidentally, I recharged my DR7 for only the second time yesterday... I've had it since the 31st of December!

Why DO people leave the stickers on their MD units?
LOL. A lot of people leave the stickers on their units... why is that? My DS8 even has the sticker on it still, heheh...
I think for me it's perhaps that having the sticker there reminds you of when the unit was brand-spanking-new, it sorta reminds you of how exciting it was to get... what do you think?

hehee
I think the stickers take away from the sheer beauty of the unit. They are an afterthought and not a part of the original design ![]() But you can keep it for your personal reasons which I can't argue with....... me? I would HATE to have anything other than its pure metallic beauty! lol ~G PS:- Rumz, please take a listen of that DS8 again and tell me what you think Its all about the sound quality now......I can't believe that I know two people on this board with BOTH the DR7 and the DS8............Man! U and your Auvis! hee hee

. I mean.. why bother? You've BOUGHT it, it's not like they need to advertise more.. It ruins the lovely navy blue too...Although, on the bright side - You'll get an auvi sticker shaped scratch free zone. |

I like the simplistic approach...
Rumz,
You and I have a lot of MD gear, and it's great that you seem to have found bliss with such a straightforward set-up; one recorder and a great set of headphones. I think this is the trap we can fall into as MD addicts, by obtaining more equipment than we really need and, then, discovering we only need a couple things to make us happy. Actually, I think I now prefer using my E707 over either of my two recorders, along with my ER-4P's. There. That's my favourite configuration - E707/ER-4P. BTW, nice pics of the toys at your workstation.
