MZM100 and Windows 7...help please!

Hi everyone. I got a new computer yesterday running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). I installed SonicStage and everything was working fine. This morning I made an MD using my MZ-M100 with no problem. But now I'm trying to do another, and I got an error stating that the driver for the MD recorder has not installed correctly. This is the same recorder that I used to make the first disc, and I never unplugged it. So what's going on? Does anyone have any experience with this problem or any helpful suggestions? I would really appreciate it.

I didn't think Sonicstage worked on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I have tried several times as well, but it always stated that the drivers wouldn't install.

I seem to remember someone over at the Sony Insider boards had some luck with the 32 bit version...

Thanks for your reply Culp. There was a full install of SonicStage floating around either here or the other Minidisc board a few years ago, and that's what I was using for three years with success on 64-bit Vista. It's also what I've put on my new Windows 7 machine and worked for a little while.

If I can't find another solution, I guess I'll put a virtual instance of XP on my computer and use that for making MDs. Kind of a pain, but I do love minidisc so I guess it's worth it

Somehow, Sony have never gotten round to making a SS version that will work on Windows 7 64bit. As 32 bit is limited to 4 gigs of RAM, I´m sure the next Windows version will make SS completely unuseable, as all PCs will surely have more than 4 gigs.

A little off topic but I thought the 32 bit OS limit is 3GB RAM.

To quote Dansdata.com:
Quote:
If you install 4Gb, there is no way to make all of the RAM between 3Gb and 4Gb available without installing a 64-bit OS, which you can't do unless you have a 64-bit CPU. And even then it won't necessarily work.

I believe the actual limitation is about 3.7 GB or something like that.
