Triple J Hottest 100
so who here listened to the Hottest 100 yesterday? I listened to a good part of it (more the latter half, I slept in...) and a although a little dissapointed that many of my votes didn't make it as high as I had hoped / expected, and powderfinger getting in the top 10 WAY too much, it was a pretty good mix overall.
For the non-aussies. Hottest 100 is the world's largest music poll. It's run by Triple J, the nation's youth / alternative radio station (and government owned - so no ad's, or censoring) every year, and listeners vote for their 10 best songs for the year which are tallied to the top 100. This year's #1 was Jet 'Are You Going To Be My Girl' full listing : http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottes...story/2003.htm |

Blast. Missed the bugger AGAIN. Nevermind, it is a decent mix alright.
Still don't know how this country survives without the Government censoring things...:D |
no censorship better mystyler. in singapore every1 has no freedom to read(newspaper)/watch (TV, movies)/listen (radio) to what they want all is government censored. only thing not censored by the government is music, so it is better not to have censorship as i have learnt one thing if one government wants to control what their people read/watch/listen then the curious people will strive (hope i used it correctly) to see what has been censored

if i lived in Singapore,, i would spend most of my time in jail;; i like to speak my mind and read,, watch,, and listen.. can't imagine it.. i think i'll stay in the good ol' USA..

Humour, seiko, tongue-in-cheek humour.
I like Singapore the way it is anyway. It's not that bad. :P |
nice. how come the white stripes have so many singles out...the only two released in NA was 7 ntn army, hardest button...i know there was 'black math' and 'i just dont know what to do with myself' now, there is 'girl you have no faith in medicine' and 'in the cold cold night' anyway, im taking the assumtion...

just like the reggae top 40..;; all the same bands dominate the top 40.. i'm not saying the songs are no good;; just that there are a LOT more bands and songs more deserving.. something is rotten in Denmark..(oh,, i mean in Singapore)..!! |
the songs don't have to be singles. triple j often plays other tracks from albums on air. a couple of years back, a b-side managed to grab the #1 spot!
if it's a band that gets a strong following, often people vote for multiple songs of theirs. everyone gets 10 votes - so don't be surprised if white stripes fans voted for 3 or so songs of theirs. |
